Malaysia-Japan Junior Internet Go Tournament 2008

An Internet Go tournament between Malaysia Weiqi Association (MWA) and Japan (Matsunaga team) junior go players was held on 14 Dec 2008, the competition is carried out via Internet using KGS Go Server at Malaysia Room.

Malaysia Team is represented by : Lim Shu Wen, Chow Zhi Mei, Ng Yow Aeng, Chow Zhi Hao, Ng Yen Aeng, Ng Juan Heng, using username "mwago01" - "mwago06". Japan Team is represented by K. Ashihara, R. Ashihara, H. Ooya, E. Ito, T. Ojika, H. Takhata using username "edogawa01" - "edogawa07" on KGS

The Japan Club Igo Tournament 2008 JC Tournament
was held on 13 Dec 2008 at Japan Clud Fuji room, there are total of 20 players (13 Japanese & 7 Malaysian) took part in this 1 day event. Tournament is split into Group A (kyu level, 8 participants) and Group B (dan level, 12 participants).

All games are played with 1 hour time limit (30 min each), with handicap stones base on JC points system. Group A - kyu level players compete in 3 round swiss system, and Group B - dan level players compete in 5 rounds swiss system.

   * 1st Runner up : Nishio

   * 2nd Runner up : 1. Tanaka 

                              2. Okabe

   * Champion : Lee Choon Huat

Malaysia-Singapore-Thailand Weiqi Friendship Tournament Result

Go players from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand meets on 5 - 7 Dec 2008 in OCM Hotel, Kuala Lumpur to compete in the Three-Country Weiqi Friendship Tournament.

After two days of 5 rounds intense competition, Singapore Team emerged as the overall winner and won the Individual Champion and Team Champion.

Malaysia won the 1st Runner up in Individual & Team Event, Thailand won the 2nd Runner up in Individual and Team Event.

Team Event's result is decided by each country's top 3 player's ranking.

Calling for all junior Malaysian weiqi player.  There will be a weiqi selection tournament for young (age 15 and below) Kyu only player to participate before we have an internet event with friends at Japan.  the detail are as follow,

Selection:  Best of 5 plus MWA recommendation 1 (total 6)

Selection date:  13/Dec, Sat     Venue:  JC

Net competition date:  14/Dec, Sun     Venue:  Internet Cafe (tentatively near Setapak)

Age:  16 years next-birthday and below

Strength:  Kyu only

Entry fee:  Free

Prize:  TBA
